My work focuses on the intersection of architecture and the sociopolitical landscape of ancient Greece. In particular, I am interested in how architecture actively participates in the functioning of political regimes, the creation and perpetuation of ideological systems, and the efficacy of ritual action.
My other research foci include the origins and development of the Greek theater, the kinaesthetics of dramatic performance, ancient quarries, architectural sculpture, and mystery cults.
I have participated in numerous excavations in Greece and Italy. Currently, I am an Architecture & Quarry Specialist with the Naxos Quarry Project, and have also served as a Senior Archaeologist with the American Excavations Samothrace in the Sanctuary of the Great Gods on the island of Samothrace in Greece (since 2011), and was Field Director of the Contrada Mango Project at Segesta, Sicily (2016-2018).
