In this oral history, Mr. Montgoussaint E. Jons reflects on his public service, Black representation in local politics, and other issues:
"I came back, and I rode around Williamsburg, and I was shocked to find that there were no African Americans in executive positions, there were very few in elected positions, and I said to myself, this has got to be a rewind of Gone with the Wind and Clark Gable ... And I said, why do you want to be here? And I said, that's why you have an education. Why not? Why not take this city on and see if you can do a little something?"
