Mr. Brown discusses being affected by the City's redevelopment plan in the 1970s that tore down families' homes and relocated them to the Crispus Attucks neighborhood:

"They would be having meetings regularly about this transition, houses being torn down and you had the opportunity to purchase and you had the opportunity to pick what you wanted built here in Crispus Attucks....I can remember that you felt like you had better do one thing or the other because it seemed like they had the attitude, “We can take it if we want to.” ... I can remember saying, “They got us! But we got nice homes, but we should have gotten more.”
