Fredi Epps Jackson was born on November 5th, 1946. She grew up in Williamsburg, living on both Frankin Street and South Boundary Street. Her grandparents Fred and Fany Epps, owned an apartment building behind their home on Franklin Street, where she lived with her parents and older sister. Her Uncle George Epps owned a home on Franklin Street as well. When she was about 5 years old, her family moved to their home on South Boundary Street, which her grandfather Robert Braxton had started building before he passed, where she spent the remainder of her childhood.
On June 27, 2021, Mrs. Fredi Epps Jackson participated in an oral history night for the Bruton Heights Class of 1965. The Bruton Heights alumni reflected on their experiences at school and in the community during the Civil Rights era. The event was co-hosted by Mr. Curtis Lassiter and his family and The Village Initiative's Local Black Histories Project.

In August 2022, Fredi Epps Jackson generously provided an oral history to The Village Initiative’s Local Black Histories Project. In this oral history, Ms. Jackson offers rich details about her years growing up on South Boundary Street, as well as her memories of her grandparents’ neighborhood along Franklin Street in Williamsburg. She recalls fond memories of her school years at the Bruton Heights School.
