The treasure chest I chose was from Reddit's Woodworking thread.

I recreated the treasure chest as closely as I could, but chose to simplify the lock and the handles due to feasibility. I ended up spending multiple days on the treasure inside, so I can't say that time was saved in the end.
This project required a great deal of textures. The main ones are obvious: wood, brass, marble. Both the wood and brass had to be recolored to more closely match the reference image. The more subtle textures are the leather of the chest trim, the glass of the coffee cup (this was the original lambert shader, made transparent), the top of the latte, and the gradient of the latte shown through the cup. I combined a solid color gradient and an image of coffee foam to create the latte. All images can be clicked on to navigate to their source site.
The two parts of this project that swallowed my time were applying textures to beveled edges and creating the latte. Each beveled edge of the chest and leather required its own texture application with subsequent UV mapping adjustments to create something that looked even close to realistic. This means I individually mapped and adjusted 144 surfaces, not counting the latte or the marble turntable. Creating the latte took quite awhile as I wanted to get a realistic look to the entire beverage, and when I chose to make my coffee cup out of glass, that meant I had to texture all the coffee, instead of just the top. I downloaded a model of a coffee cup (which I can no longer find the link to) and adjusted it to look like my personal favorite, pictured to the right, a double-walled glass coffee cup with handle, made by Bodum.
