Our purpose in creating CyberScape is to bring cyber awareness to the younger audience (K-12) and influence better cyber hygiene practices. A lack of cyber hygiene and awareness can cause major damage to your identity and assets.
With the growing need of cybersecurity professionals, there is a high demand for roles to be filled. Why not educate the youth on best practices of cybersecurity and create a path for them to become future cyber professionals?
We are looking to introduce our customers to the world of cybersecurity and increase awareness of cyber hygiene and the consequences of cyberattacks. With the evolution of technology comes increased risks and opportunities for cyber criminals to take advantage of their victims who are not aware of the capabilities of advanced cyber equipment.
Cyberattacks result in the exposure of sensitive personal data. Cybercriminals use stolen information to commit identity theft, including opening fraudulent accounts or applying for credit cards. Victims may suffer not only financial losses but also long-term damage to their credit history. Being a victim of cybercrime can have psychological repercussions, including feelings of violation and anxiety. Victims may experience a loss of trust in technology and struggle with vulnerability and helplessness.
It is evident that the consequences of cyberattacks extend far beyond the digital realm. It affects victims' financial security, privacy, daily lives, and emotional well-being. This problem underscores the importance of educating children at their young age to protect themselves against any cyber threats that they may encounter in the future.
Everyone is a potential target for cyberattacks, which means you are never 100% safe from an attack. You can mitigate the potential of becoming a victim by becoming educated, obtaining a baseline understanding and furthering your education in cyber security. We want to help you by spreading awareness of this issue due to the rapid evolution of technology and cyberspace.
Our design thinking process revolves around different human-centered design mindsets. As a team, we could identify our mission and challenge based on our personal passions. Considering we are all based around computer and technology, we were able to focus on the challenge of spreading cybersecurity awareness. This alignment with innovation and personal values allowed us to combine our minds to produce a more meaningful end product and solution.
Using an empathetic, human-centered approach, we viewed the problem through different lenses to get a perspective of the challenge and attack from multiple angles. With there being an endless number of ways humans can view problems, we produced an end product and came up with a human-focused solution.
We came across the problem by interviewing people in the community on cybersecurity related topics. During our interviews, a common response was that people either lacked education on cybersecurity or had no knowledge about the topic whatsoever. Viewing the problem through different lenses from people throughout the community gave us a good idea of what to focus on specifically. We realized we needed to create a way for people to learn effectively while also keeping them engaged and wanting more out of the final product.
We realized that many people are either unaware or do not care about the security of their information. It was surprising to see that people could be so ignorant of their security. CyberScape aims to help that problem and give people an early education on the basic cybersecurity practices.
