Rani D. Mullen is an Associate Professor of Government and the Director of the Freeman Fellowship at William & Mary. She is also a Senior Visiting Fellow at the Centre for Policy Research in New Delhi, is the editor of the Routledge Advances in South Asian Studies series, is an Associate Editor at India Review, and is co-chair of the South Asia in World Politics section of the International Studies Association. She has been a Visiting Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of South Asian Studies (ISAS), National University of Singapore, a Senior Fulbright Fellow at India’s only Afghanistan Studies Centre at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, a Visiting Scholar at the School of Advanced International Studies, Johns Hopkins University, and a Princeton University Liechtenstein Scholar on Afghanistan. Prior to teaching at William & Mary, Professor Mullen worked as the Asia Project Manager at the Liechtenstein Institute on Self-Determination at Princeton University, was a consultant at the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, and the United States Agency for International Development. Her research and teaching focus is on the Politics of Developing Countries and South Asian Politics, particularly state-building and democracy in and foreign policies of India and Afghanistan.
Aaraj Vij ’23 graduated from W&M with a double major in International Relations in Computer Science. He is fascinated by the intersection of politics and technology, and his research areas include mis/disinformation, artificial intelligence, and South Asian politics.
Sophia Zaman ’23 graduated from W&M with a major in International Relations. She is passionate about cultural studies and international aid and development. Her research areas include humanitarian crises, Middle Eastern politics, and U.S. diplomacy abroad.
Isabel Conti ’22 graduated from W&M with a major in Government and a minor in Italian Studies. Her areas of interest include corruption, political violence, and international security.
