A communist state is a state claiming they follow the principles of communism. The idea of Communism came from a man named Karl Marx and means all of your property is owned publicly and people are paid depending on their needs and abilities.
One of the last remaining communist states is North Korea. The founding of the communist party of Korea begun in 1925 at a secret meeting in Seoul. The communist party leaders were Kim Yong-bom and Pak Hon-yong. The communist party has had rule over North Korea since the end of World War 2, and to this day are still considered communist as they still have complete control over the aspect of everyone’s lives. In August 1928 the communist party had become the Korean section of the Communist International at the 6th congress of the International. After a few months the Korean communist international was disbanded that same year due to rival faction feuds. However communism did not die there and the party remained in existence through party cells. Korea still describes itself as a communist state, and is one of the last five remaining communist states in the world today.
A wonderful fictional example of communism would have to be in George Orwell's famous book Animal Farm. Many of the characters in the book are believed to refer to many communist leaders of the time. The book is also filled with many references that refer to examples of communism as well. A prime example is the character Old Major, who many believe represents Karl Marx as they both seem to be founders of communism. Another communism reference is the Pigs that seem to represent the loyalist of the communist party as originally they care deeply about the others but over time they are just as bad as the original masters of the farm itself. The form of government that the animals used is called Animalism, which is essentially communism as they both encourage the equality of others. This is a very good representation as it even shows how communism is ineffective and people still prove to have more power over others.
