2024 Visual Art Luminaries & Poet Laureates
The "I Belong" book features the winning work of poet laureates and the visual art luminaries from each college. Created and published with support from Virginia Humanities, the book also included the poetry from second- and third-place winners, if selected at the college.
A similar book will be created from the "I Dream" entries.
The book was designed by Megan Brassart, a Tidewater Community College alum. Brassart will lend her creative expertise to the "I Dream" competitions.
Harper Ballance's piece, "The City is Where I Belong,” won the People’s Choice award during the 2024 Poet Laureate event. For the first time, an overall winner will be chosen as the Visual Art Luminary of Virginia's Community Colleges.
The names of Visual Art Luminaries appear first, followed by Poet Laureates.
