How to Measure AQ:
To measure the adversity quotient of a person, a test can
be administered to someone to find their score.
The test, created by Paul Stoltz, gives multiple scenarios that require the test-taker to rate their feelings from one to five on the given statement.

The person being tested would choose between one, meaning not at all, and five, meaning completely responsible.
After rating 20 situations, the numbers are added together, and multiplied by two, resulting in the Adversity Response Profile (ARP) score.
(Stoltz, 1997)
Sample Questions:
“You are overlooked for a promotion. To what extent do you feel responsible for improving the situation?”
"Your computer crashed for the third time this week. To what extent can you influence this situation:"
“You accidentally delete an important email. The consequences of this situation will:”
"You never seem to have enough money. The consequences of this situation will:”
(Stoltz, 1997)
AQ measures resilience.
AQ can predict how someone endures challenges with one's existing abilities.
AQ assesses who can surpass their own expectations associated with their performance and who will not be able to do it.
AQ gives an idea about who easily gives up and who continues to fight.
AQ predicts who can overcome their current struggles and who will have a poor impact of it in their lives.

Scientific study finds that the correlation between AQ and job position is partially proven
Career success has been considered equally important for both personal and organizational development (Zhao & Sang, 2023). The purpose of the current study was to examine how trait emotional quotient (EQ) and adversity quotient (AQ) contribute to individuals’ objective career success (job position) and subjective career success (organizational commitment). 256 Chinese adults who completed certain required measurements were chosen for this study. The primary purpose of the study was to investigate the effects of trait EQ and AQ on career success among Chinese adults. It was hypothesized that all aspects of trait EQ and AQ would have a positive influence on job position and organizational commitment. The hypothesized positive relationship between trait EQ and job position was rejected. No significant and positive relationship was found between the three aspects of trait EQ and job position, which contradicted previous research findings. The positive relationship between AQ and job position was partially proved. Specifically, only one aspect of AQ (i.e., acceptance of self and life) positively predicted job position. In other words, individuals who have “adaptability, balance, flexibility, and a balanced perspective of life” are usually able to reach a higher position within their organizations compared to those without these characteristics.
