The Paul D. Camp Community College EMS Program offers the following training through small classes with individualized instruction in a supportive, collegial environment:
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - 32 sessions of didactic education, simulation lab training, and practical time in regional ambulances and emergency departments. Traditional courses meet twice weekly for a semester; accelerated courses meet mostly online with lab sessions held on campus. Students earn a career studies certificate and test eligibility to certify as an EMT. Prerequisites: CPR for Healthcare Providers (we teach several CPR classes prior to the beginning of each EMT class!); meet the minimum qualifications set by the Virginia Office of EMS. ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - 16 hours of didactic education and hands on practice sessions in the identification and management of cardiovascular emergencies.
