My primary research interests are in the fields of solid state electronics and vacuum electronic devices; particularly field emission, which includes nano-semiconductor solids and 2D compounds. I am interested in the fundamental science of field emission from carbon based material (diamond like carbon and 2D materials) and TMD compounds, in the synthesis of new materials with new properties or combinations of properties, in understanding these properties and in exploring their applications in new devices, especially diodes and transistors such as ultra-fast switching device. Although 2D thin-film like solids represent the starting point for much of our research, we have extended our interests well beyond the confines of this subject alone.
