The origin of the Symposium

The International Symposium on Advanced and Sustainable Science and Technology (ISASST) is organized by the College of Science of National Chung Hsing University (NCHU). NCHU, located in Taichung city, is the most historic university in Taiwan and the most prestigious academic research center in central Taiwan. It was founded in 1919 on the Roosevelt Road Campus of National Taiwan University, and was then moved to its present location in 1943. With a total of nearly 16,000 students and 1000 faculty members, NCHU is one of the 100 top universities in Asia. The university is renowned for its excellent programs in Agricultural Science, Veterinary Medicine, Life Science, Biotechnology, and Fundamental Science. Focusing on becoming a comprehensive research university, NCHU is dedicated to cutting-edge research in science and technology. The main campus comprises ten colleges and one school, including the College of Liberal Arts, the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, the College of Science, the College of Engineering, the College of Life Sciences, the College of Veterinary Medicine, the College of Management, the College of Law and Politics, the College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, the College of Medicine, and the School of Innovation and Industry Liaison.

The purpose of ISASST is to promote the collaboration between the College of Science of NCHU in Taiwan and top universities worldwide, including those in Japan, Korea, the United States, and Vietnam. This will establish bilateral alliances for cooperative projects in key research fields. The alliance will facilitate regular exchange and study for international students in Taiwan and short-term classes will also be conducted for more international students, with further internship opportunities offered in Taiwanese enterprises. The symposium will cover four main fields, including chemistry, mathematics and scientific computation, physics, and biotechnology. Scholars participating in the symposium will give professional lectures and conduct academic exchanges with teachers and students. We hope that attending researchers and students will have a fantastic opportunity to discuss interdisciplinary research in the fields of science and technology. We anticipate that all participating institutions will further enhance mutual exchanges and cooperation, foster closer collaborative relationships, and ultimately, provide valuable benefits to both teachers and students from Taiwan through this international symposium.
