January Update

Here is what is going on in room 28!

Fundations

• Reading and spelling words with glued sounds.  We added the glued sounds

 -ang -ing -ong -ung as well as -ank -ink -onk -unk

Reading

• Thinking and talking about books

• Important story element of the setting of the story.

• The problem/solution of the story

Writing

• Writer's workshop nonfiction writing.  We are learning and writing about penguins and will be choosing our own animals to research and write about.

• Responding to books that we listen to or read ourselves.

Math

• continue to work on story problems

• working on adding 3 numbers by finding friendly combinations

Science/social studies

• season and changes in winter

• collecting winter weather data

• learning about what a hero is

• learning about the moon and its phases

• CTBN  topic courage
