Digital Citizenship
At Memorial School Kindergarten and Grade 1 students take part in three Digital Citizenship lessons each school year.
The goal of these lessons is to familiarize students with age appropriate ideas and strategies for using technology.
Our Library Media Specialist and our Technology Integration Specialist work with students during these lessons.
Our curriculum
Our digital citizenship lessons are adapted from Common Sense Media's Digital Citizenship Curriculum.
Kindergarten Lessons
1. "Media Balance" Students will learn how to balance online and offline activities
2. "Pause for People" Students will learn when and how to say goodbye to technology.
3. "Safety" Students will learn how staying safe online is similar to staying safe in the real world.
Grade 1 lessons
1. "Pause & Think Online" Students will learn ways to be safe, responsible, and respectful online.
2. "How Technology Makes You Feel" Students will learn to listen to their gut when online.
3. "Internet Traffic Light" Students will learn ways to stay safe when online
