We are celebrating the international "Dot Day!" with author Peter Reynolds. Our artists listened to the story and gained inspiration around turning even something as simple as a dot, into a masterpiece. Be on the lookout in our Blue Hallway for a display of beautiful "dots" drawn by grades K & 1!
First Grade Self Portraits! After reading "I Like Myself" by Karen Beaumont, students drew themselves with full independence. We will practice drawing ourselves as well as others throughout the school year. In June, they will have a chance to draw another self portrait so we can see the progress of each portrait artist throughout Kindergarten!
Primary colors, secondary colors and the color wheel! Students used oil pastels to fill in their own color wheels, starting with primary colors then blending to create secondary colors.
"Only One You"! A celebration of what makes you special and stand out. This picture book by Linda Kranz has many examples of our Art elements: patterns, shapes, line variation and use of color. First Graders created their own patterned fish using these illustrations as inspiration.
