Distance Learning Dates

• LSD Distance Learning is scheduled to begin Wednesday, March 16th, 2020.

• At this time closure dates range from March 16th-April 30th. Please be aware this may change.

• Spring break is currently still scheduled for April 10th-17th. Teachers will not assign work during this time.

Distance Learning Technology

• We will utilize Google Classroom, which students use daily at school. Click the Google Button below to understand how to access your Google Account.

• What you need for distance learning

• WiFi connection

• Laptop, desktop computer, Chromebook, tablet, or iPad

• Some apps do not work with phones, PS4 and XBox so please utilize as last resort

Expectations

• Students will receive assignments in ELA, Math, Social Studies, Science, CTE and Electives on Google classroom.

• Students should expect to work for about 30-45 minutes per subject each day

• Teachers will host daily office hours.

Guidance, Tips, and Extra Resources for Distance Learning

• Sit down with your child and create a daily schedule that works best for your family

• Here is our suggested sample schedule:

• 8:30 AM: Wake up and have breakfast

• 9:00 AM-11:00 AM Academic time

• Login to Google Classrooms, check your assignments for the day

• Focus on ELA and Science

• 11:00 AM-1:00 PM Break and Lunch

• 1:00 PM-3:00 PM Academic time

• Login to Google Classrooms, check your assignments for the day

• Focus on Math and Social Studies

• Keep us informed of your needs throughout the process

• We encourage you to keep a normal weekday bedtime

• Distance learning will work differently for everyone and that’s ok!

• We will communicate with you via JCall, Facebook, weekly newsletters, weekly calls, LSD website and other platforms to provide updated information.

• It’s important to include outdoor time, family time including board games, chatting and other recreational activities to keep your students active.
