You can edit the master slide to make selected background images stationary. This helps keep your students from moving those elements of the slide.
If you want a screen to show longer, duplicate the slide multiple times. For example, if you want the title slide to show longer, then duplicate that slide multiple times (5 or more, depending how long you want it to display).
The transitions between slides will be smoother when you include more slides with shorter movement between the slides.
Animated gifs and mp4 files can be inserted in Google Slides, Google Forms, and Google Sites. You can also insert animated gifs into Google Docs; however, you cannot insert mp4 files.
First Steps
Click on either option below to practice animating the slides.
Choose from Phases of the Moon or The Respiratory System.
Begin duplicating slides then adding subtle changes to each slide:
Respiratory slides--copy and paste the green circle (represents oxygen being breathed in) then gradually move it to the lungs. Change the green circle to red once it gets to the lungs, then begin moving it back up to show carbon dioxide is being breathed out.
Moon slides--move the black circle slightly to represent what the moon looks like between lunar phases. You will need to resize the circle as you show these gradual changes.
NOTE: Templates courtesy of Dr. Bruce Ellis through TCEA presentation on animation.
Once you have added the elements to your slides, then go to File--> Page Setup. Change "inches" to "pixels" and make a note of the size.
Next, go to https://talltweets.com .
Scroll down and select "sign in with Google".
Select upload then select your presentation that you animated.
Once the slides load in, add the pixel number (1280).
Note slide duration--.1 is pretty quick, so you could try .2.
You can disregard sequence of slides---this does allow you to skip some slides or reorder slides.
Select "Create Gif".
Once your Gif appears, then you select "save" and then save to your desktop.
You can open the file in your browser to see the animation. NOTE: If you double click on the file, it will probably open in a preview mode. The animation will not work in this mode. You need to view the animation in your browser.
Enjoy!
