Administrator's Summary

Mika McAfee has successfully completed her probationary period as instructor in both the Family Life Education Department (FLED) and Social and Human Services (SHS) department in the Health and Human Services division. During this time, Mika provided strong leadership for the FLED cooperative preschool programs and infant-toddler parent classes throughout Snohomish and North King counties, as well as compassionate and effective instruction for various courses for SHS.

Her student evaluations are excellent and comments describe a thoughtful and engaging instructor who is committed to student success. In addition to her work in the classroom, Mika has held a leadership role in the statewide OPEP (Organization of Parent Education Programs), including planning and hosting their annual meeting on our campus last March. Mika also provided professional development to her colleagues by co-leading a training in Trauma-informed Pedagogy at last fall’s Teaching and Learning Day.

Her Appointment Review Committee has observed and documented her instructional skills and contributions to the college and highly recommends awarding of tenure. I fully support the recommendation by the Appointment Review Committee and know that Mika will continue to be a strong advocate for students and families, and will be a wonderful asset to our college community.
