Sexual Assault Awareness Month matters because it brings focused attention to an issue that is often hidden in silence. It creates space for survivors to be heard, communities to learn, and institutions to be held accountable. By raising awareness, promoting prevention, and supporting those affected, it helps shift cultural norms toward respect, safety, and consent—and reminds us that ending sexual violence requires collective effort all year long. The Law Students Against Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence are hosting a Walk in Their Shoes event during this month to deepen that mission. The walk symbolizes stepping into the experiences of survivors—honoring their resilience, confronting the reality of harm, and inspiring empathy and action.
