Mostafa Javadian

BIOGRAPHY

Mostafa Javadian is a postdoctoral scientist at the Center for Ecosystem Science and Society at Northern Arizona University, where his research specializes in leaf energy balance modeling using thermal infrared imagery. Prior to this, he was a postdoctoral research associate in Bill Smith's lab at the School of Natural Resources and the Environment at the University of Arizona. Mostafa's expertise lies in remote sensing of the environment, particularly in detecting vegetation water stress through thermal remote sensing from tower, drone, and satellite platforms.

Mostafa's academic journey began with an undergraduate degree in civil engineering. During an environmental course, he discovered the potential to merge his passion for the environment with a sustainable career. He pursued a Master’s degree in water resources management and engineering from Sharif University of Technology in Tehran, Iran, focusing on estimating agricultural water consumption using satellite remote sensing. In 2019, Mostafa moved to the United States to further his studies, earning a Ph.D. in hydrology and remote sensing from the University of Arizona in May 2022, with a dissertation centered on vegetation water stress.
