If you have an eligible score, you will be given the choice of taking either ENGL 102 or ENGL 108. You must make your course selection through the Foundations Writing Evaluation.
To earn Foundations Writing credit, your official transcripts must be submitted to the UArizona Registrar. More information about submitting your transcripts can be found at this link.
Most Arizona community colleges offer ENGL 101 and 102 through Arizona high school dual enrollment programs as well as on their campus. If you've taken two semesters of English composition and received a C or higher, you have completed the UArizona Foundations Writing requirement.
If you are certain that you have completed this coursework (or will complete it before your first semester at UArizona), at the end of the evaluation you can select the option "I have completed this requirement."
Please read the course descriptions on this site before you return to the evaluation. When you complete the Self-Assessment (the next step in the evaluation) you will see a course recommendation based on your answers. You do not have to select this course if you know you have completed ENGL 101 and 102.
You may have completed dual enrollment or transfer courses that are considered equivalent to UArizona's Foundations Writing courses. If you have reported this coursework in the evaluation, the UArizona Writing Program will review it to determine whether your coursework earns Foundations Writing credit.
At the end of the evaluation, you will be given the choice to select ENGL 101 or ENGL 107. This selection may be updated depending on the results of our review. You will receive the results of your course review at your UArizona email address.
