Take Home Folders:
Your child will bring home their take home folder daily. Please check this folder each night for homework, notes, and graded papers. On the left side is their "return to school" side where papers that need to be signed or returned back to school belong. On the right side will be the "keep at home" side where papers will be that can stay home such as hand outs, newsletters, or graded work. Please be sure your child brings this folder to school each morning.
Homework:
Students should study their spelling lists and heart words each day.
Read for 15 minutes every night.
Complete spelling homework packet - return by Friday each week. *Not until January*
Snack:
We will have snack at school every afternoon. Please be sure to send in a snack with your child everyday. Students may bring a water bottle to class each day as we have a fountain to refill it at.
Classroom temperature:
My room is typically cold so feel free to send in a sweater or sweatshirt that your child can keep at school for when they get chilly.
Behavior management:
We will be using a clip chart to monitor our choices in school throughout the day. Students start on “Ready to Learn” each day. Your child will have a clothespin with their class number on it. If your child does something positive or if their behavior is above and beyond, they will move up on the behavior chart. If your child does something negative, they will move down. If your child does get moved down, they can move back up when they change their behavior. Whichever color they end the day on, they will get money to add to their dojo wallet! At the end of each week, I open our dojo store where they can save or spend their money on prizes and coupons!
Clip Chart:
Pink- super student $5
Purple- awesome behavior $3
Blue- great choices $2
Green- ready to learn $1
Yellow- think about it $0

Red- parent contact $0
Classroom Rules:

Birthdays:
Birthdays are very important to children. In class, we will celebrate your child’s birthday in a special way: a crown, a song, and a special surprise. If your child has a summer birthday, they may still pick another day to celebrate their birthday so as not to miss out on this fun school experience. To celebrate this special day, I ask that your child bring in a NON-food item such as stickers, a pencil, or eraser for everyone in the class (if you wish to participate). School policy does not permit party invitations to be handed out at school. We do have a class directory that will be shared with families that wish to participate that has contact information for other students in the class.
