Take Home Folders:

Your child will bring home a folder each day. Please check this folder each evening for homework, notes that need your attention, and graded or corrected papers. On the left side of the folder will be the notes and graded or corrected papers. On the right side will be a behavior calendar, any homework assignments or anything that needs to be returned to school. Please be sure your child brings this folder to school each morning.

Homework:

Homework will vary and will be short assignments. When we begin our homework, it will come home in the take home folder.  The homework folder will come home sometime in September. There will be a short reading or phonics assignment.  Please set aside some time each evening to review sight words and read a story.

Birthdays:

Birthdays are very important to children.  In class, we will celebrate your child’s birthday in a special way: a crown, a card, a song, and a special surprise.  If your child has a summer birthday, they may still pick another day to celebrate their birthday so as not to miss out on this fun school experience.  To celebrate this special day, I ask that your child bring in a NON-food item such as stickers, a pencil, or eraser for everyone in the class (if you wish to participate)We do have a class directory that will be shared with families that wish to participate that has contact information for other students in the class.

Snack:   We will have snack at school every afternoon.  Please be sure to send in a snack that is on the snack list.

Classroom Climate:

Please feel free to send in a sweater or sweatshirt to be kept at school for your child’s comfort in our air conditioned rooms.

Classroom Behavior Plan:

We will be using a clip chart to monitor our choices in the classroom.  Students start on “Ready to Learn” each day.  Students will have opportunities to move up or down the chart, with a personally numbered clothespin, each day based on his/her choices.
