Standards-Based Grading

Elwood School assesses student performance through Standards-Based Grading. Student work is correlated with the Common Core Standards and it is given a score to communicate how well the student is performing at grade-level. Fourth Grades Scores are as follows:

• 4 - Exceeds Standards
  • Work exceeds the standard and shows understanding above and beyond what was being assessed.
• 3 - Meets Standards
  • Work met the standard and shows on-level understanding
• 2 - Approaching Standards
  • Work is approaching the standard and shows some practice is needed.
• 1 - Below Standards
  • Work is below standards and more practice is needed.

Should a student receive a score showing more practice is needed, they are encouraged to make corrections with the teacher or their parents.
