Who: Students in Kindergarten through Grade 8 and their parents (ALL STUDENTS must be accompanied by a parent)
Students in Kindergarten through Grade 8 are invited to take part in an afternoon of discovery, creativity, and fun! Along with a parent, students will be able to travel to grade level workshops and engage in hands-on activities to learn basic physics and engineering principles. This year students will register to attend the event, however, they will not be registered for individual sessions. Families can visit sessions at their own pace throughout the afternoon where they can explore, discover, and tinker.
Bubblemania- Make all size bubbles using different objects such as hula hoops, strings, tubes, etc.
Dowel Painting- Discover a very unconventional way of creating beautiful artwork!
Ozobots- Let your imagination run wild with these cute little robots that respond to your marker drawings.
Gliding Robot- Students create paper robots and turn their masterpieces into climbing toys.
Hop Scotch Coding- A simple, interactive introduction to unplugged, block-style coding that is perfect for Kindergarten through third graders as they learn the basics of programming
Straw Boat Challenge- Build a boat that will float and hold weight in this challenging and fun session. Students design, build and race sailboats
Circuit Bugs- Create a creature and learn about how electrical circuits power our lives
Marble Roller Coasters- Students use common objects to create a roller coaster for a marble to travel, studying the principles of velocity and inertia.
Straw Marble Maze- Can you create a game using marbles, straws and boxes?
Paper Plate Roller Coaster- Using household items, students create a roller coaster for a marble or toy car.
Stomp Rockets- Shoot a homemade rocket high into the atmosphere using only the power of your foot and air pressure!
Dash Robots - Build a mechanism and code a little blue robot that will help him draw with markers
Make Your Own Game Room - Foosball, Operation, & Pinball! Students will be challenged to create their own take-home versions of these games using simple materials
Balloon Cars- Can you make a car that runs only on balloon power?
