Welcome to Chamber Knights! Chamber Knights features the most elite orchestra members of Elwood-John Glenn High School. Musicians in this ensemble play at a NYSSMA level 5 or 6. Participation in the ensemble is by invitation/ audition only.
Most rehearsals occur on Thursdays at 2:45-4:00pm. Since the ensemble meets once a week, it is expected that you attend for the entire rehearsal. Attendance is mandatory. Excessive absences (more than 2 per concert rotation) will result in being removed from that concert. An absence refers to missing a rehearsal. Coming late, or leaving early, from a rehearsal counts as .5 of an absence. If you must miss all or part of a rehearsal, you must notify Ms. Dana at least 24 hours prior, except in the case of illness.
Communication about rehearsals and performances take place through email, GoogleClassroom, and ParentSquare. Practice parts will be disseminated through GoogleClassroom. Feel free to reach out to me if you need a printed copy of your music to take home.
Below is a limited schedule of events that we play at. We may be asked to play in more, in which small groups will be devised by Ms. Dana using alternative chamber repertoire as appropriate.
The concert dress for this ensemble varies depending on the event:
Holiday Party- Holiday Festive Wear!
Winter Concert- All Black Formal
NHS Induction- Colorful Formal: Dresses at or below the knee, black slacks, dress shirts
FOA- Colorful Formal- Dresses at or below the knee, black slacks, dress shirts
Spring Concert- All Black Formal
In the event we play for the Board of Education Meeting, the concert clothing will be All Black Formal. Please notify Ms. Dana with any questions or concerns regarding the concert dress.
While Chamber Knights meet as a lesson group once-a-week in addition to the rehearsals, it is imperative that you learn and practice your part at home. Ms. Dana will be happy to help you if you have any questions in the music, however, it is your responsibility to learn your music. The turnaround time for repertoire is substantially quicker than that of the orchestra, so individual practice will be needed in order for successful concerts.
As always, please don’t hesitate to reach me if you have any questions or concerns. I am looking forward to an exceptional year!
