My name is Laura Ioviero and I was born and raised in the Elwood community. Growing up I had the opportunity to attend all schools within the Elwood School District. I have always been inspired to educate, empower and advocate for individuals with special needs.
Upon graduating high school, I attended Mount Saint Mary College, studying childhood education, and education of students with special needs grades 1-6. I completed my masters degree at St Joseph's College, studying adolescent special education with a concentration in severe and profound disabilities. Upon graduating with my masters degree, I continued my education through Touro College, studying early childhood education for students with special needs. I am currently continuing my education in Applied Behavior Analysis at Touro College.
My special education teaching career first began in the Elwood School District as a special education teacher's assistant for two years. From 2013-2017 I worked for the New York City Department of Education in District 75 working with children with varying needs and abilities. In 2017 I began teaching for the Elwood School District in the Life-Skills program and have been teaching here ever since!
