Here we are... it's that time of the year again - Back to school! That was fast, huh? Hope you had a great summer!

Welcome to the official ELL webpage. Thank you for your interest. My name is Mrs. Yau-Kun and I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. I attended California State Polytechnic University (Cal Poly Pomona) for my Bachelor's Degree, and Point Loma Nazarene University for my Master's Degree. I graduated with straight A's (high honors). My Clear Credential in English-Education was obtained through University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

At Emmaus, I teach ELL (English Language Learner) classes here on campus and I am also the "Attendance Supervisor" for our school.

A little about our English-Language Program:

We work with students who have needs in the English language; classes are formed by the grade level. (Grades 1-8).

As a school, we have a school wide A.R. (Accelerated Reading) program. For the last four years, it has been successful and an immense help for our students! It was so successful that we are going to continue using it this school year!

Besides teaching students according to English - California State Standards (Vocabulary, Reading, Writing, Verbal communication), they also learn about the Love of Jesus Christ and about the American Culture. Our goal and focus is to help students (who have English needs / and International Students) to assimilate into the American Culture seamlessly and succeed to their fullest potential.

If you have any questions or would like to know more about our program, feel free to email me at Jyau- kun@emmausalhambra.org or call our school to learn more. We always welcome new students to join us. We look forward to hearing from you soon!

With Love and Blessings,

Mrs. Joyce Yau-Kun, M.A.
