Reflections is a national student art contest through PTA that encourages students to REFLECT on a theme, CREATE artwork that expresses their interpretation of the theme, and CELEBRATE the artwork in their school community.
Winners from the school may advance to district, regional, state and national level.
Timeline:
Spring: Theme announcement
Summer-Fall : Students reflect on theme and create artwork
October: Submit artwork and entry form
November: Artwork Review completed and top entries advance to Council (i.e. District)
December: Reflections Celebration hosted in the El Rancho Library

When: Wednesday, December 2nd 3rd, 2025 during Tutorial

Artist should submit artwork based on the theme. Artwork should have a title and be accompanied by an Artist's Statement describing their work and how it relates to the theme.
Use the Virtual Student Entry Form above to enter Artist’s Info and upload copies of the completed artwork by the deadline. (Don’t use your student school email). Virtual Entries are preferred but printed entry forms are acceptable; see "Printable student packet" above.
Artwork within each category will be judged based on Interpretation of theme, creativity and technique. First place advances to district and possibly up to regional, state and national levels. A celebration for all participants will be held later in the year.
El Rancho PTSA recognizes the high quality arts instruction that students receive from their teachers at El Rancho. We would love for all teachers and staff to become involved with the Reflections Art Contest program to encourage students to express themselves artistically.
Artwork and entry forms are due October 15th.
This is not just a traditional art contest for only paintings and drawings but a very broad art contest that accepts a variety of entries such as dance, poetry, videography, woodwork, fashion, song and so much more!
This is not just a program for highly trained artistic students. Reflections is an art contest for students of all abilities and we celebrate every student who participates.

A student may submit an entry in any of the following categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography and/or Visual Arts. See rules by category for details.
Yes, a single student may enter as many or few arts categories as they like.
Use the Virtual Student Entry Form button above to submit and upload your work by the deadline listed above. Paper entry forms will also be accepted by the deadline. Visual Art, Photography and Literature submissions must submit original artwork according to guidelines. Carefully read category rules for all submission details, or contact your Reflections Chair using the email button below.

For entries in the categories of VISUAL ART, PHOTOGRAPHY, and LITERATURE students should submit both digital copies online and original artwork to the El Rancho office by the deadline.
