Hey, my name is Kaming (Tina) Zhang. I’m from Guangzhou, China.
I love hanging out with my friend and listening to K-pop music during my spare time. My favourite song this year was Lovin’ Me by Fifty Fifty, I can proudly say that I’ve listened to it at least 500 times.
I played piano for five years but I dropped it cause I’m done with practicing. Despite that, in this year of learning, I picked it up. I also started to learn how to play violin in these two semesters.
"A Flower in a Stormy Night" was inspired by a photo of a flower that looks more vibrant against the dark grass, the background looks like a thunderstorm is coming. My intention was to use the musical technique to convey a feeling of the only bright colour in the dark, more in detail, how the flowers stand out in the dark, a strong contrast between the depressing background and the brightly blooming flowers. The composition will feature a diverse ensemble comprising the violin, viola, cello, double bass, trumpet, trombone, horn, flute, clarinet, oboe, piano, and harp. These instruments will collectively create a powerful and majestic atmosphere, express delicate beauty and hopeful melodies, and provide harmonies, arpeggios, and ethereal sounds, capturing the essence of a blooming flower and its grandeur.
