Elms students juggle multiple deadlines, projects, and responsibilities and work hard to reach their goals. Recognizing that their determination and resiliency is strong, students may benefit from some assistance to ease the burden and stress of financial hardship.
In order for students to achieve their full academic and career success, having their basic needs met cannot become part of the challenges of furthering their education. For this reason, Elms College has established the Elms Mercantile, located in the Dooley College Center, which provides free resources that can help students on their journey to success.
Emergency Funds
Students who find themselves needing emergency funding for an unexpected expense (not tuition or fees) may meet with the Dean of Students office to discuss their needs.
Students may pick up notebooks, highlighters, index cards, post it notes, pocket folders, clips, binders, writing utensils, etc. at any point during the building’s open hours at no charge.
The Mercantile also has personal care items that sometimes go unpurchased because of financial hardship. Students are invited to visit the Mercantile and invited to take what they may need.
The Career Closet located on the lower level of Dooley allows Elms College students to obtain business attire donated by faculty, staff, alumni and friends of Elms College to be worn at interviews, career fairs, networking events and in the workplace. The goal of the Career Closet is to remove financial barriers that may prevent students from looking and feeling their best during the internship and job search process. Students can visit the Career Closet in person to browse the collection. Open hours are posted on the board outside the Closet and marketed through Instagram and class emails. @elmstudentlife
Donations are accepted year round and may be brought to the Student Affairs Office in the Dooley Center room 110
