Hello!! So glad you landed on my GATE class page! I'm Rebecca Abrams, the Gifted Specialist at Holtville Elementary School! I have been the gifted teacher here for 22 years! I hope you find this page helpful and informative!
Just a little about me. I have been married for 29 years to my husband Harry. We have two sons Harrison and Heath. Harrison is a graduate from Auburn University in Computer Science. Heath finished his first year at Aurburn University studying Psychology.
I received my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from The University of North Carolina at Wilmington (UNCW) in 1994. I taught 5th grade at Wetumpka Intermediate from 1997- 2002. While teaching at WIS I received my Master's Degree from AUM in 2001. In 2002 I trasferred to Holtville Elementary and started teaching Gifted Education. While teaching at Holtville I received my certification in Gifted from The University of South Alabama. I love teaching in the community where I live!! Go Bulldogs!
4th Grade!
Each year, most Elmore County Gifted students travel to McDowell Environmental Center! We spend 3 days and 2 nights learning about the natural world around us. Kids hike up hills, through amazing rock formations, over a swinging bridge to take in the natural beauty of our world. We canoe, have team-building activities, and enjoy this time together. We go back again and again because the kids (and chaperones) love this experience.
McDowell Environmental Center dates are October 29-31.
