Hello! My name is Kaylene Sauschuck and I am a nursing major at Elmira College. I didn’t have a lot of experience with photography until this semester, other than taking photos on my iPhone. I have always enjoyed art, and photography is just another way to express how I view the world creatively. I am very excited to take the information that I learned this semester about the art of photography with me and continue to use it throughout my life. I love taking photos around the campus and of my friends. I also enjoy taking photos outdoors, especially of sunsets and different landscapes.

For my inspirational artist I chose to focus on Thomas Heaton. He is from the North East of England and some of the stunning images that he enjoys capturing include landscape photography, travel photography, and outdoor photography. As he wanders to new places, photography gives him a purpose and the ability to share the joy of his travels. I found him particularly interesting because he uses photography as an escape from reality and a stress reliever, which is exactly how I feel and look at photography as well. I enjoy taking photos of landscapes and sunsets and Thomas does an amazing job capturing the beauty in both wildlife and nature.
