The artist that I found inspiration from is a Swedish photographer named Christian Aslund who has traveled around the world, taking photos to tell different stories. The photos in his “Stories” do not have descriptions attached. The only words that are used in the stories are the title.
I believe that I find inspiration from Christian Aslund’s photos, because of the diversity in his photos. I believe that is photographs can be split into four categories: rural art, commercial photography, untouched nature, and human impact on the earth. All of the photos do share one area of common ground. They all are able to speak without words.
The work that inspired me the most was the story titled “Baby Godzilla’s – Marine iguanas of the Galapagos islands”. I traveled to the Galapagos Islands my freshman year of college, so I share that experience with Christian Aslund. Visiting the Galapagos Islands was very moving to me, because it is one of the few places in the world that animals are respected and protected as they are in the Galapagos Archipelago The inhabitants of the island do not intrude on the animal’s habitat. They live in harmony with the animals, which does not occur in most places in the world.
