In this semester-long class, students will explore how Chicago's history has influenced the city we all know and love today. We will study significant milestones in Chicago's story while improving our efficiency and effectiveness in reading and writing. While some things about this class are "set in stone," at least a third of each semester is uniquely tailored to the interests of the students in class. In addition to feeling more confident about their ability to write successfully in college, students will learn a lot of hidden secrets about the city of Chicago with which to impress their friends and family on their next visit!
This course also offers Blended Learning sections. Blended learning is an approach to learning that combines face-to-face and online learning experiences. There is a combination of student days in class and out of class. This flexible use of time allows the teacher to bring in small groups of students for targeted support and/or enrichment and it allows students to have more ownership over how, when and where they learn.
