What is Fundations??
Fundations teaches foundational skills for young learners. It is a multisensory and systematic phonics, spelling, and handwriting program. Here is a link to their website with more information.

Accurate, fluent reading (read words correctly and smoothly)

Spelling Words
Spelling skills (rules and patterns)
Hearing all of the sounds in a word, then matching the spelling to that sound
Trick Words
These are high frequency words that don't follow typical spelling rules and patterns)
Syllable Types
These are the 6 syllable types that we focus on throughout the year. Each one is introduced slowly within the units. These help students to identify the syllable type within a word and match it to a spelling pattern.
For example: closed syllables = short vowels, vowel-consonant-e = long vowels with the silent 'e'
