About Me

My Role at Jackson

My primary role is to support literacy instruction in kindergarten to 5th grade. I love working with all grade levels but you'll definitely find me in kindergarten classrooms supporting the young learners transition into readers! Many of the students start school with different strengths and my role it to support their learning journey. I LOVE being with the kids in the classroom. :)

Kindergarten classrooms are not the only rooms you'll find me in. I also support students in all other grades. I do work with students during acceleration block, which is a dedicated block for students to receive different levels of support in addition to classroom instruction.

I also participate in planning and collaborating with teachers to ensure all students are receiving the support that they need!

Professional

I started my career in Chicago as a classroom teacher. I received my bachelor's in elementary education from DePaul University and got a job as a second grade teacher. I went on to teach K, first, and third grade! After receiving my reading specialist degree from National Louis, I started working at the same school as a Literacy Coach. My primary role was to support teachers in increasing their instructional capacity. This is my third year in Elmhurst School District and I absolutely love working with all the Jackson Jaguars!

Personal

I'm also a mom! My husband and I have two children, Carter (5) and Reagan (2). We love to spend time together on the weekends. Carter started kindergarten this year - I love walking into his school and talking to teachers and parents from a "mom" perspective. It'll be a fun year trying to balance it all! :)
