COVID Positive

These are students who have tested positive for COVID-19. They are excluded from school for 10 days from symptom onset OR 10-days from the date of the test if they are asymptomatic. These students are described in Situation 1 of this document.

NOTE: We notify close contacts of COVID positive individuals (see definitions below).

Quarantined - Home/ External Close Contact

We received information from families or the DuPage County Health Department that these students were required to quarantine. These quarantines are due to exposures outside of the school setting (in the home, at a restaurant, in an external sports league, etc.). Students who are vaccinated do not need to quarantine.

Quarantined - School Based Close Contact

These are students who were close contacts to a COVID positive person within our schools.

A close contact is defined through proximity and duration of an exposure: as someone who was within 6 feet of an infected person for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period (for example, three individual 5-minute exposures for a total of 15 minutes).

New this school year, an exception applies in the PK–12 indoor classroom setting, where the close contact definition excludes students who were within 3 to 6 feet of an infected student if both the infected student and the exposed student(s) correctly and consistently wore well-fitting masks the entire time.
