Below you will find general information about the College of DuPage focused on admissions, access and accommodations, and information about the Math Assistance Area at C.O.D. Additionally, important ALEKS placement test information focused on what scores are needed to place into certain courses at C.O.D. has been provided .
As you can tell from the table shown below here, the first set of college credit math courses are listed in the 46-100 score range. Courses that start with a "0" are remedial/developmental. There are a few college credit math classes that exist below this range, though. These classes, however, would be more for a certificate program instead of a degree like the Associate of Arts or Associates of Science. For example, students wanting to pursue fire science or automotive certificates, would not need Math 1218, but instead may need Math 1100 .
However, if your student is taking Algebra 2 this year, they do not need to earn a 46 to place into M1218 or M1220. Rather if the student earns an A in the second semester of the course, then the student only needs a 37 to place into this course. If the student earns a B, then a 40 is needed and if the student earns a C, then a 43 is needed.
More specifically, if a student is curious about what math courses are needed for a specific major of interest, some links here are attached that should help. The first link provides all of the programs offered through the College of DuPage under the 2 + 2 agreement. According to COD, "A traditional 2+2 agreement allows a student to complete 2 years at College of DuPage and another 2 years at a college/university to complete a bachelor’s degree." These programs are listed at this link and if you click on the particular program of interest it will provide a progression of all courses needed to successfully complete the 2 + 2 including which math courses are necessary.
There is also a similar set of information below regarding 3 + 1 programs. This would imply that a student takes, "three years of classes at College of DuPage, with the fourth year taught by the partner universities on College of DuPage's campus." More information regarding these programs is included in the link below.
