The Academic and Career Planning Process is a year-long, continuous process for students and staff. Brookfield East utilizes the Academic Planner in Infinite Campus for students to select and plan out their coursework.
The document below provides important details and notes for the 2026/2027 course planning process.
How to Pick Courses
Connect course selection to post-secondary plans
Select courses in content areas of interest
Ensure graduation requirements are met
Be intentional about rigor - each student's rigor looks different
It is not an option to request specific teachers, blocks, or lunch periods
Course Retakes
Students are allowed to retake a course for grade improvement. The highest grade will be recorded on the transcript.
Changing Course Level
Students have up to 5 days to change course level (ex. Algebra II Honors to Algebra II)
This is only possible if there is space in the class and doesn't disrupt the schedule
Dropping a Class
Students have up to 3 weeks to drop a course for a study hall (students cannot have more than one study hall per term)
After 3 weeks, a drop is an automatic “F”
Adding a Class
Classes can be added or changed before the term begins
This is only possible if there is space in the class and it doesn't disrupt the schedule
Once a term starts, courses cannot be added
