Diagnostic & Benchmark Assessments
Elkin City Schools utilizes a variety of assessment tools to ensure the success of all students. The following universal screeners and formative assessment tools are implemented throughout the school year to provide formative data to our teachers and administrators. These assessment tools are informative and are not utilized to prove scoring or grades to students.
NC Check-Ins are interim assessments developed by the NCDPI that are aligned to North Carolina grade-level content standards (for reading and mathematics) and North Carolina Essential Standards (for science).
Elkin City Schools will utilize NC Check-Ins at all Grades 3-8 in reading and math; Grade 5 & 8 science; and Math 1, Math 3, English II and Biology.
