Digital Badging

Elkhart is now offering a way for staff to track their growth during professional development through Digital Badges. Badges can be earned by all ECS staff as a way to show progress on personal goals, demonstrate understanding, and highlight your unique set of skills. There are several methods you can use to earn badges with more being added in 2021.

Our Badges are Open

A badge is more than a digital sticker: there is data attached to all badges and credentials awarded by ECS Professional Development. When you earn a badge, it will be loaded with data about who issued the badge, what it represents, how you earned it, and can even include a work sample that showed your competency.

If you're an ECS teacher, you can use these badges as evidences in your evaluation or publish them on a personal website or professional resume. We want to highlight the work you do to continue to grow and learn as a professional educator.

Badge Types

Skill Blocks

Skill Blocks are based in an app or tool available in the district. You work through a series of steps to check your knowledge on using the platform with students. When you're finished, each block is awarded automatically.

Competencies

Combinations of Skill Blocks create Competencies: collections of skills that represent wider knowledge. Competencies are sometimes required for other PD pathways to become available.

ECS Certified

As Competencies are earned, you will be recognized as an ECS Certified educator in each area. ECS Certifications recognize the various skills needed in technology and instruction to engage students in learning.

Special Awards

Special PD programs or tracks may include Special Awards than can pull from previously-earned badges.
