Biochar

Biochar is a charcoal like substance that is left after the pyrolysis of biomass. It is obtained from the thermochemical conversion of organic material in an oxygen-limited environment. Biochar is rich in pyrogenic carbon and can endure in soil for thousands of years. It offers many soil health benefits such as retaining water and water soluble nutrients. Biochar can also reduce the amount of greenhouse gases that escape through soil with its excellent absorption/bonding properties.
