College Ready
No matter where you decide to go, college is a big jump from high school! The more you prepare, the better your experience will be. Check out page five of the Senior Handbook for your Senior To-Do List, and complete this form if you would like to schedule an appointment with the College and Career Center.
ApplyTexas/Common App
If you are planning on attending college in our great state of Texas, you should start by completing your ApplyTexas application. If you are considering schools in AND out of state, you should complete your application using CommonApp. Remember to confirm with your school of choice which application portal is required!
SAT/ACT/TSI
If you plan to attend a 4-year university or college, chances are you will need to take an SAT or ACT*. The last test you can take for college admissions is given in October at Elgin High School.
The state of Texas requires all students who graduate from high school to meet the TSI requirements. To schedule a TSI test, check out the TSI Resource Center.
*Every Senior is registered to take the ACT at school on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.
FAFSA/TASFA
Paying for college can be very expensive, but this burden can be greatly lessened through federal and institutional grants. In order to receive these grants, students must first complete the free application for federal student aid, or FAFSA.
If you are a student who does not qualify for federal student aid, you may still be able to qualify for aid from the state of Texas. To find out, check out the Texas application for state financial aid, or TASFA.
Scholarship Book
Scholarships are a great way to help pay for college, and every year millions of dollars are given to college-bound students at the local, state, and national levels. Last year the greater Elgin community gave over $66,000 to EHS graduating seniors! The link for the scholarship book will be shared at a later date in the semester.
