Phase 1: Discovery
Buying a home is emotional...remember to be logical.
Have you ever left a first date feeling, “wow I have butterflies!”, but then after a few dates, you start to learn that they never do laundry, they leave dishes in the sink, and you don’t really have anything in common? This is why we have to not only listen to our heart, but also remember to think with our head!
When walking into an open house, it is easy to be taken by the energy or overall feeling of a home. It makes sense! As agents, we do everything we can to make a home inviting and memorable for every prospective buyer. From beautiful staging to scented candles, to excellent lighting and music, we want you to feel at home and picture yourself living there. While the vibe is certainly important, it’s critical to remember that a home must also fit your daily needs.
Things like…
Does my car fit in the garage?
Where do I store trash cans?
Is there storage for my winter clothing?
Am I okay being near a school, bus stop, flight path?
Are there too many stairs for my parents when they visit?
Ultimately, we are your guide. We can’t promise you will accomplish all of these things, but it’s critical to consider things that are important to your daily life.
We are here to help you make smart decisions.

Home Warranty
We recommend purchasing a one-year Super Home Warranty at closing, but you can use another company if you'd like, or you can choose not to order one at all. Just let us know if you'd prefer to opt out.

Phase 4: Escrow

The Closing Process
The last week of escrow can feel chaotic. There are many moving parts and people involved. Here is the roadmap to closing in the Bay Area.

Legal Help
You can contact RERM before, during, or after closing with any legal questions. You can use their mediation services for free for as long as you own the home.
Recommended Insurance Providers
As you may know, securing home insurance has become increasingly challenging in California. In order to be prepared for your purchase, we strongly encourage you to establish a relationship with an insurance agent at this time. Insurance agents can be very busy so getting in touch sooner than later is recommended.
When you are ready to make an offer, having this relationship already established will make it much easier for you to ask for an insurance quote. Doing this prior to making an offer allows you to consider waiving your insurance contingency, therefore strengthening your offer significantly.
