When are the rehearsals? Friday, October 25, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm and Saturday, October 26, 8:30 am - 3:30 pm.
Where are the rehearsals? Episcopal Church of Saints Andrew and Matthew (SsAM): 719 N Shipley St, Wilmington, DE 19801
When and where is the concert? Saturday, October 26, 3:30 pm, at Grace United Methodist Church, 900 Washington St, Wilmington, DE 19801
Do families need tickets for the concert? Tickets for the honor choir concert, which will include performances by both youth honor choirs, an intergenerational choir featuring Temple University choir, and a conference choir, are available here.
What are the costs involved? Elevate Vocal Arts is committed to making the choral arts accessible to students of any background, especially those in communities facing systemic barriers to success. There is no registration fee for students or participating teachers. Students will receive lunch at no cost on both days. Sheet music will need to be purchased for each student participating, which should be roughly $15 per student. Sheet music links are found on the repertoire page. Please contact rachel@elevatevocalarts.org with concerns.
What is the student concert attire? Students will be provided a BBNB t-shirt at no cost to pair with jeans for the concert.
My students need to stay over. What are the hotel options? All lodging information can be found on the main conference website. If the conference hotels are booked, we suggest calling the DoubleTree in Wilmington, which is very conveniently located to the rehearsal and performance spaces!
What is the music to be performed? Our esteemed honor choir conductors are working to finalize repertoire choices, which will be updated on this website ASAP!
I'm a director and want to attend conference sessions while my students participate in the honor choir. Do I need to chaperone the whole time? You do not need to chaperone the entire time! Registered directors will sign up for a rotating chaperone window to have the option to attend conference sessions. There is no additional cost for registered directors to attend sessions on Friday and Saturday. Directors wishing to attend the concert on Wednesday night or sessions on Thursday will need to register separately for those events, but there is no cost for participating directors. PD certificates are available for all registered directors.
What's the parking situation? For buses, there are parking lots available near Grace United Methodist Church, the concert venue. Directors have the option to park in nearby garages (listed on our website) or street parking. Parking near Grace UMC and walking over to SsAM is easier than finding parking near SsAM.
What are my students getting out of this experience? Aside from the tangibles of working with incredible conductors, attending two conference performances, and receiving a BBNB t-shirt to wear at the concert, students make lasting musical memories with peers from around the region, the chance to experience music that may be outside of their concept of "choral music," and the opportunity to get a burst of enthusiasm about vocal artistry to bring back the rest of your ensemble!
