“Good Better Best, Never Let It Rest,

‘Till Your Good Is Better

And Your Better Is Your Best!”

If we teach our students to live by this simple motto, they can achieve more! This adage is based on the idea that students need to demand more of themselves to see themselves as solid students. However, to see themselves as solid students, they must be in a mindset to learn. While students come to us with many outside distractions and barriers, it is our task to help them focus and feel safe, so their learning may be maximized. Effective students, like effective schools, live by high standards. We need to encourage our students to both set high standards and see themselves as effective learners.

Both home and school must work together to help students take responsibility for their learning and to sharpen their self-demand for excellence. We need to help them shape their vision, goals, and perceptions of success as a team. Two effective ways to do just that is by holding students accountable to produce their best work at all times, and cultivating an “anything is possible” attitude.

I challenge each parent, guardian, mentor, role model, and educator, to help our students believe that they are capable of academic success and that anything less than their best effort is not acceptable. Ultimately, it is our job to encourage and remind them that they are capable of being Champions in the classroom and in life!
