Mrs. Jones Biography: My name is Joan Jones and I am the lead teacher in one of the 4 year old classrooms. I love helping children learn the basics of identifying letters, learning letter sounds, counting, patterning, science lessons as well as encouraging their creativity in art. I am a graduate of St. Gerard School, Waverly High School and received my Bachelor of Arts at Central Michigan University.
I became a member of St. Thomas Aquinas in 1995 when I was expecting our first child and my husband and I knew we would be sending our children to a Catholic school. We live in Mason and are now members of The Catholic Communities of Saints James, Cornelius and Cyprian. I have been active at St. Thomas Aquinas school since 2001 as a volunteer in my children’s classrooms, substitute teacher, kindergarten aide, aftercare coordinator, teacher assistant and teacher. My husband is a high school teacher as are my two oldest children and my youngest is a junior at Aquinas college. I enjoy camping around the country, being active, reading and spending time with family.
Mrs. Rule's Biography: I have been the director of the preschool program at St. Thomas Aquinas School since we opened in 2009. I teach the four year old preschoolers in an all-day preschool program. Catholic schools have been part of my life throughout my education. I attended St. Gerard for elementary school & Lansing Catholic for high school. My student teaching experience was at St. Gerard and my first teaching job was a 1st grade position at St. Martha, of which I taught for three years. With a BA in Education and Child Development from Central Michigan University and an MA in Child Development from Michigan State University, I was able to become the educator I wanted to be and work in catholic schools.
Beginning in the fall I will have a student here at STA in the 8th grade, my older three have since graduated. I have one child attending LCHS, one attending Grand Valley State University, and one child at Michigan State University. I am truly grateful to be part of the STA community and can be involved in my daughter’s everyday experience. When I am not at school I enjoy time with my family, friends, traveling, skiing, and spending time with friends.
Claudia Lundberg (Ms. Claudia), Director of Aftercare
A bit about me:
I always loved school and I love children. God knew what He was doing when He brought me back to STA. I attended STA as a student continuing on to Lansing Catholic for high school. I graduated from Michigan State with my Bachelor of Arts before accepting my position here at school. I’m happy to share that I will be changing my name from Ms. Claudia to Mrs. Zaleski in October 2021.
A bit about my job:
I run our aftercare programs at STA, Lunch Bunch, PEEPs, and Tartan Club. I enjoy helping students learn to share, make new friends and build their confidence.
