Dear Student,
El Camino College is committed to supporting your academic success. Our records indicate that, as of the end of the Spring 2026 semester, you have been placed on Academic Pause and/or Progress Pause (formerly Dismissal). The Student Success Program (SSP) is here to support you. Students reach Pause status for many different reasons, and we want to ensure you have access to the resources that can help you return to good standing. To continue your studies in Fall 2026, you must complete the SSP Reinstatement Appeal Process.
The SSP Reinstatement Appeal Process consists of the following three (3) steps:
1. Meet with a counselor to develop an educational plan for Fall 2026/Spring 2027.
2. Complete the Balancing School and Life Workshop or the Wellness Wheel: A Path to College Success Workshop
3. Complete the SSP Reinstatement Petition form online and upload the required documents no later than Thursday, August 13, 2026, by 12:00 p.m.
Deadline:
Thursday, August 13, 2026, by 12:00 p.m.
You will receive notification of your appeal decision within two weeks of submitting your completed materials.
Possible Automatic Reinstatement/Approval
You may qualify for automatic reinstatement if:
• You are on Academic Pause and earned a 2.0 GPA or higher in Spring 2026, or
• You are on Progress Pause and completed more than 50% of the units you attempted in Spring 2026.
If either applies to you, you must still complete the appeal process by the deadline listed above.
If You Are Already Registered for Fall 2026
You must complete the SSP Reinstatement Petition Process to remain enrolled.
Students who do not submit a completed appeal by the deadline—and receive approval—may be dropped from Fall 2026 classes before the semester begins.
If You Choose Not to Appeal
Academic/Progress Pause lasts for one semester. If you do not appeal for Fall 2026, you may register again for Spring 2027. However, we strongly encourage you to complete the appeal process. Meeting with a counselor and accessing campus resources can significantly improve your path back to good academic standing.
We believe in your ability to succeed and are here to support you as you continue your educational journey. Please contact the Student Success Program (SSP) if you have questions or need assistance with completing the steps above.
